THE RESTFUL REDESIGN OF A JEWELLERY ATELIER

Jeweller, Moira Patience asked us to overhaul her Edinburgh studio to reflect the growth of her business into the well respected and established atelier it is today. The studio provides a space to meet clients and discuss each bespoke piece as well being as a showcase for her collection. Investing in jewellery that you will pass down to future generations takes time so we wanted to create a calm and restful space. While the studio is located in the heart of the Georgian New Town, any architectural features apart from the mantlepiece had been stripped out so we used wooden mouldings to reintroduce interest to the space along with new parquet floors which instantly gave the room a sense of gravitas.The colours were kept muted so as not to distract from the jewellery and were used alongside rich materials such as velvet and marble in sculptural shapes as a reference to the beautiful stones often found in Moira's pieces.
